He has later joined with local college students to visit Muthupet Mangrove Reserve Forest. For more details about this programme click here.  On 5th November 2009, he has travelled to Keezhathottam village, where OMCAR has been established MANGREEN Sites, based on the concept of EMR in Keezhathottam, Velivayal and Adaikkathevan Villages.  He spend about half an hour to interact with field workers and OMCAR staffs to know about the restoration progress.  A.marina and R.apiculata have been protected within the restoration sites.  The waterways that supplies the estuarine water in to the mangroves have been maintained periodically.  Both species of mangroves were transplanted in to the degraded areas in western and north western side of the sites, due to lack of natural seed dispersal.  The canal system inside the restoration site is offered the accumulation of mangrove seeds during high tide.  These fenced site have to be managed for the next 3-4 years to raise the average canopy height to 4.5 meters.   Faunal diversity has been increased several folds once after the sites were protected from threats.  Changing seasonal factors like heavy flood (2008) and drought (2007) have influenced the growth of young mangroves.
